Jersey law Quality. Efficiency. Dedication.

Do you have what it takes?

Mid-level Corporate/Investment Funds Associates (3-7 years PQE)
Junior-level Corporate/Investment Funds Associates (1-3 years PQE)

The Roles

We are looking for experienced corporate / investment funds lawyers, as well as more junior corporate / investment funds lawyers, to join our expanding Jersey practice.

The work involved is diverse, high margin, challenging and intellectually stimulating. We offer regular exposure to large and complex cross-border transactions, and have a substantial deal flow originating from the Middle East, India and the Far East. Our practice covers capital markets, financial services, investment funds, insurance, M&A, infrastructure and real estate funds, private equity and corporate finance.

You will quickly become involved with complex cross-border projects that offer variety and challenge. Structuring, technical and project management experience will be a definite advantage, and the roles will suit someone who has experience running their own transactions but is looking for increased exposure and responsibility.

On joining, you will be advising a high value, growing client base on the creation and organisation of a wide range of structures and investment vehicles. We also work closely with many specialists across many jurisdictions, and provide a cross-border multi-jurisdictional service in conjunction with those specialists.

About You

You should have trained with a recognised City (or equivalent), regional or offshore practice and excellent academics are essential. We are happy to speak to lawyers qualified to practice in any jurisdiction.

Experience in a wide range of corporate matters would be an advantage, with particular emphasis on our practice areas. Good organisational and drafting skills and attention to detail are pre-requisites, as is a willingness to make a real contribution to the on-going success of this small, but rapidly expanding, corporate practice. You must speak and write excellent English, and additional languages (particularly those relevant to our catchment areas) would be beneficial.

You must be a team player, committed to developing both professionally and personally, and you must have excellent commercial awareness. Enthusiasm for maintaining and developing client relationships is vital, as is a commitment to the delivery of quality, commercial and timely advice.

The Opportunities

The attractive package on offer to the right candidates incorporates a basic salary (commensurate with experience) and a performance-based bonus scheme, with other elements available.

These are key hires for us, and we expect that that the successful candidates will ultimately lead their own teams. This is, we think, an incredibly rare opportunity with the potential for partnership opportunities for the right candidates.

We are a meritocratic and equal opportunity practice and we believe that the diversity of our staff will contribute to our continued excellence. We are responsive to the needs of dual-career couples, or persons returning to the workplace following a career break.

How to Apply

Please don’t apply by, or send us an, email – either write to Jonathan telling us a little about yourself, what role you wish to apply for and why you think it might be for you (and enclosing your CV and contact details), or call either Jonathan or Hiren for an initial (and, of course, confidential) chat.

Greetings

Things have all been a little hectic since our last post, so forgive us for not updating this blog as frequently as we would have liked!

Mustn't complain though - it does mean that we've picked up a couple of clients, and that we've been reasonably busy, and this would seem to indicate that the model that we've adopted does currently seem to be working out.

There'll be more soon (especially now that I have managed to get back into the blog site following a complete memory blank on how to log on!!), so please bear with us.

In the meantime, greetings to our erstwhile colleagues from our previous shop, who seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time looking at our website (it is amazing what statistics you get from your webmaster, isn't it?).  Anyhow, you are welcome to browse around - if there is anything we can help you with, why don't you just contact us directly!?

And they're off..

We’ve now spent quite a lot of time thinking about how this might work, and so far, we’re really not sure, so we’ll just dip our toes into this whole blog (or should we be using that awful phrase “blawg” which seems to have become so popular on the other side of the Atlantic?) thing, and see how we do.

How do Ikick this off, then ... and just how much of our time are we going to spend each time we come to update this blogthinking that same question?Perhaps, as this is the first post, we should introduce ourselves – but then we do that on the “About us” [hyperlink] page of this website, so do head on over there and have a look.

Better, perhaps, to give an overview of what to expect (hopefully!) from this blog:what we are going to try to do is regularly to update readers on developments, specifically in Jersey law, relevant to our principal practice areas. We’ll also try to keep you abreast of other developments of interest, and if you’re really unlucky, you may find the odd completely off-topic post, which might range from our experiences running a legal practice entirely on Apple computers to possibly ill-considered rants about particular stupidities.

We look forward to updating this blog on a regular basis, and hopefully to getting some feedback and comments from our readers – especially if there’s a topic you really want us to look at.

Jonathan
